church planting
in the northwest
ICPA helps churches and leaders lift their eyes to the wider region and gives them tangible ways to participate together.
About the ICPA
We’re a network of churches working together to expand the mission of God in the Intermountain West.
Planting disciple-making churches in every community throughout Idaho, Utah, Montana, Eastern Oregon, Eastern Washington, Western Wyoming, and Alberta, Canada.
“
Without exaggeration we can say that Church Planting Movements are the most effective means in the world today for drawing lost millions into saving, disciple-building relationships with Jesus Christ. That may appear to be an ambitious claim, but it is an accurate one, and an honest description of how God is winning a lost world.”
People Are The Prize
ICPA began because churches in this region decided the mission was bigger than any one church.
The Northwest is the most unchurched area in our country, and the ICPA has a vision to see that change, especially through the Intermountain West (Idaho, Utah, Eastern Oregon, Eastern Washington, Montana, and Alberta, Canada).
We have a vision to see revival start in our midst through prayer and the presence of God. We expect to see personal and corporate renewal that is a catalyst for future church planting.
Our History
ICPA began as the Ore/Ida CEA (Christian Evangelistic Association). Churches in eastern Oregon and western/central Idaho looked beyond themselves and intentionally joined together to plant churches.
At the time, they had not seen an intentionally planted church in the region for roughly 50 years, apart from church splits.
The Theology
The Church is not fundamentally a building or an organization. It is God's people, united in Christ and filled by the Holy Spirit. Individual churches matter, but they belong to the larger Church.
Church plants matter because people matter. People are the enduring prize — not buildings, programs, platforms, or institutions.
What we do
Love God, first. Before the ministry takes place, we must have a heart bound up and tied together with our God. Jesus gave us his greatest command, to love God, before he gave us His Great Commission. We believe success that lasts into eternity will come through a deep abiding love of Christ.
Make disciples, always. This was Jesus’ command for His church, and we believe that is the only way to see the church move forward. A mature disciple is not a person who merely knows how to recite scripture or show up at church. A mature disciple follows Jesus, is being changed by Jesus, and is on mission with Jesus. We are committed to seeing churches with these values perpetuate throughout our region.
Multiply, at every level. If we are to see more churches, we must first see more disciples. Multiplication of disciples will multiply leaders, a multiplication of leaders will multiply churches, multiplication of churches will multiply movements. Right now there is a lack of Christian leaders at every level in the established church and it is nearly impossible to find church planters ready to hit the ground. This points back to a discipleship problem. We want to see this reverse in the next 5 years.
