Rural Areas
Church planting strategy usually follows the math: find a growing population of 200,000, launch a service, and build a crowd. The Intermountain West doesn't work that way. This region is anchored by agricultural towns, mountain valleys, and remote regional hubs that will never make a national target list.
In a major metro, a closed church means people drive a few extra blocks. Out here, losing a church or a pastor leaves an enormous void.

Idaho's capital and home to Boise State University has experienced explosive, transplant-driven growth that is rapidly shifting its traditionally libertarian-conservative baseline. This massive influx from coastal cities creates a fast-paced, shifting environment ripe for organic church planting.
Salt Lake City, UT
As Utah’s capital and a progressive, secularizing blue island in a heavily LDS state, Salt Lake requires nuanced, culturally aware ministry. The booming Silicon Slopes tech sector is driving massive demographic shifts, bringing in a diverse, unchurched population hungry for genuine connection.
Spokane, WA
Serving as the economic hub of the Inland Northwest, Spokane blends post-industrial grit with a purple political landscape. With institutions like Gonzaga University and a highly unchurched regional population, it serves as a strategic gateway for network expansion across Eastern Washington and North Idaho.
Provo, UT
Home to Brigham Young University, Provo is deeply conservative and culturally homogenous, overwhelmingly dominated by the LDS church. Breaking ground here requires extraordinary patience and highly relational discipleship to bridge entrenched religious and generational divides.
Missoula, MT
Anchored by the University of Montana, Missoula is a fiercely independent, left-leaning stronghold in a deep red state. Its vibrant mix of outdoorsy counterculture, college students, and remote workers demands grassroots, authentic ministry rather than traditional, programmatic church models.
